My class covers the ins and outs of how birth happens, including the hormonal and physiological changes that start and sustain labor. With the assistance of visual aids, I demystify the medical terminology used to track the progression of labor (dilation, effacement), circumstances and processes associated with medical intervention, breakdown the best way time contractions, and explain the scope of patient rights, including your right to informed consent. A portion of the class focuses on teaching meditation and relaxation technique for the pregnant person and modeling caregiving/comfort measures for the birth partner.
Class is 4 hours and can take place in the comfort of your home. Fee: $450
Birth Doula Care
The scope of doula care is to provide emotional and physical support to the birthing person. I support many kinds of birth, including birth with epidural, inductions, cesareans, home birth, twin-birth, and other special circumstances. Over the course of your pregnancy, I am available provide information and encouragement needed to leading up to the big day. When you go into labor, I work with you to time when to call me over and then provide continuous support until your child is born. I am trained to utilize rebozo scarf and comforting touch massage techniques. I stay with you up to 2 hours after birth to encourage baby's first latch. Within 10 days, I will come to your home to do a postpartum visit. During this visit we chat about the birth and discuss any questions or concerns you have about baby care.
Becoming a parent opens up so many questions! Postpartum doula care covers a wide range of supportive offerings, while facilitating conversations to help you think through even the most mundane of baby questions. These include light housecleaning, assistance with learning baby care techniques and methods, cooking, assistance with your To Do list, and helping you find time to eat and shower. I also provide overnight care, during which I stay in your home for a 10 hour period of time during which I help with the nighttime routine. Overnight care is helpful for parents who both breast/chestfeed and/or bottle feed. Meal planning and preparation are also available upon request with food cooked in your home or mine.
The fee for postpartum doula care begins at $45 with discounts applied for larger packages. The minimum package is 16 hours, dispersed across 4 4-hour visits within a 2 week period.
